Recycling Project at Holy Trinity

Our recycling project was launched in January and is already well underway.  We are asking for unwanted clothing, bedding, fabrics, wool, small items of furniture – in fact anything that has the potential to be remodelled into usable items.  They can be brought to the Church (Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday are all days when there is someone around to receive your offerings), or to the cafe Espada na Pedra (opposite the Hotel Dom Pedro) in Garajau on Thursdays, between 11.00 and 13.00.  We particularly welcome unwanted denim jeans, which are made of hard-wearing fabric that can be re-used in many ways.

Already in production are draught excluders, doorstops, aprons, oven gloves and pin cushions.  The  Tuesday Art Group is joining in enthusiastically and we are looking for volunteers, either to work from home or in groups.  No effort or contribution is too small to be welcomed.  We plan to accumulate goods that will be offered for sale at at least two special events each year.

Saturday December 7th has already been reserved for  our Christmas Fayre.  Further information will be available about this event later in the year, and we will of course be asking for people to help run our stalls and sideshows, as well as to rent stalls for their own wares.  Santa has already been asked to put this date in his diary and we are hoping that this will become an annual event which will have attractions for everyone, as well as raising funds to keep Holy Trinity at the heart of our community.
